Description:
Diablo II is a dark fantasy-themed action role-playing game in a hack and slash or "Dungeon Roaming" style. The player assumes the role of a hero, fighting monsters while traversing over land and through dungeons. Diablo II allows the player to choose between five different character classes: Necromancer, Amazon, Barbarian, Sorceress, and Paladin. Each character has different strengths and weaknesses and sets of skills to choose from, as well as varying beginning attributes.

Features:
- Two new character classes: the Assassin and the Druid.
- A fifth act taking place in and around Mount Arreat in the northern Barbarian Highlands, with an additional act boss, Baal.
-Placing the runes "Jah", "Ith" and "Ber" (in that order) into an armour item with exactly three sockets produces the powerful Rune word "Enigma".Many new weapons and new pieces of armor.
- Ethereal items that are more powerful than their standard counterparts, but cannot be repaired.
- Runes and Jewels that can be inserted into a socketed item to give bonuses.
- Runewords, created by placing runes into certain items in the correct order that give a huge bonus to the item.
- Charms that can be kept in the inventory and provide passive bonuses.
- Class-specific items that can only be used by a certain character, e.g. Claws for an Assassin.
- More unique and set items, including class-specific sets.
- An expanded stash for storing items.
- An alternate weapon/shield setup that can be switched to via a hotkey in gameplay.
- Hirelings can now follow the player through all the Acts. They can also be equipped with armor and a weapon, and can be resurrected (for a price) when killed.
- The game can now be played at 800x600 resolution, up from 640x480.
