This CD contains two albums from one of the greatest latin jazz vibraphonists, one live and one studio, recorded in 1968 (Solar Heat, Tracks 9 to 18) and 1969 (Plugs In, Live at The Lighthouse - Hermosa Beach California, Tracks 1 to 8) for Skye records, a label Tjader owned a part of. Due to the consistent popularity of soul/jazz recordings of the '60s in clubs, Cal Tjader's popularity has hardly diminished in comparision to many of his contemporaries and he is generally considered to be the most acclaimed anglo musician to ever play latin jazz.
