H is a French TV series with seventy-one, 22-minute episodes. It ran from 24 October 1998 to 20 April 2002 on Canal+. The series puts in scene a medical team of a hospital of the Parisian suburbs in completely unrealistic situations.


Cast
Jamel Debbouze : Djamel Driddi
Person in charge of the standard of the service of orthopedy of the hospital. He is ready to do anything to earn money and especially ready to be in difficult situations: transvestite, sale of rats and traffic of pizza pies out-of-date in the hospital, disguised as a Father Christmas, etc. He is pathological liar, he don’t hesitate to invent lies. His favourite expression is “dis moi pas que c’est pas vrai”, “Don't tell me that its not true!” One of his favourite exclamations is “Pouan!!!”

Éric Judor : Aymé Cesaire
Male nurse with a little less than 1.500 conquests. Of German origin by his mother (who will have a relationship with Sabri), and inhabitant of Guadeloupe by his father. Coward (a history of hero), hypochondriac, cynical, arrogant, dredger, he is obsessed by the women and suffers from hyper sexuality. He claims to be bilingual in English, but is lamentable on the reality (claims to speak the American black in particular!). On the other hand, he speaks German without fault. His name is resulting from the poet Aimé Césaire (1913-2008). To also note like recurring expression: “Benco!” in the place of “Bingo” (moreover, it
is often corrected by Jamel)

Ramzy Bedia : Sabri Saïd
He is a stretcher-bearer, not very malignant; he evolves to a role of barman from the episode “a history of resignation”. He consequently practices this profession in the bar Barbylone, (employment which Jamel and Aymé found to him by threatening the owner to call the service of hygiene!), its located near to his old hospital. They are two provisional employments while waiting to be able to express all his talents of a comic actor. He appears dangerous enough for his friends, at the point to poison Aymé, to poison Clara, Professor Strauss and in “a history of purgatory”, or to lock up Jamel on his balcony. These sentences summarize the character: “Ah mais ouais!”, “I am actor above all! Stretcher-bearer it is between two roles”, “I beg you” (instead of “please”), “formidable!” and “it is not the fair with sausage”.

Catherine Benguigui : Béatrice "Béa" Goldberg (seasons 1 and 2)
Doctor. Sympathetic girl, but she is not very attracting. Her ugliness and her overweight are inexhaustible sources of valves for her colleagues. Without any doubt, she is the well of the characters from a mental point of view. Despair to be able to meet the man of his life, which she finally believes to find in the person of Jean-François Guyen, Vietnamese lawyer. Their relation will be however stopped the day of their marriage.

Sophie Mounicot : Clara Saulnier
Nurse as a chief of the service of orthopedy. Dominating, she enjoys giving orders. She is characterized by her “perversity”. Not really ugly, she is viewed by her comrades as an old woman. She has a past of former prostitute, alcoholic and even turned in a pornographic film “La chienne de tipi” “The bitch of tipi”. Her relation with Aymé is very particular, oscillating between hatred and the sexual. During episodes, she sees rarely men; her father called her Jacques because he preferred to have a boy.

Jean-Luc Bideau : Professor Maximilien « Max » Strauss
Surgeon of the hospital. A little insane, much occupied by sports activities and collector of objects for kids in any kind (Pokémon charts for example), but surgeon at his hours. He has many lawsuits. We learn in the third season that he is father of a girl who named Charlotte. His marginality and his extreme nonsense make it comic. He is obsessed by the sex and does not know apparently taboos in this field, going until devoting itself to the bisexuality and the zoophilie (confirmed in several episodes such as for example with Marion, his cow…) Also obsessed by the money. He is ready to direct a group, whose members are often there by obligation (as in “a story of hunt” (Beatrice) or “a history of fraud (Aymé)). His speeches are not always well placed, but he always finds something to convince. He however is very appreciated by his employees, for his great incompetence which allows them to hang around all the day without doing their work (a history of professors). He does not even know the names of some employees, he calls for example Béatrice: “Jamel”, Jamel: “Abdel” or “Bradjel” and Sabri: “Jabri”, “Cabri” or even “Brassi”. We learned that in “a history of fraud” he has a bond with Hitler (this one being perhaps even his father!)

Edgar Givry : the Director of the hospital
Director of the hospital. He makes his appearance during the second season. Intelligent and readily ambitious, his plans nevertheless are always thwarted by a boob of his pet peeve, Professor Strauss, or by Aymé (a history of car) or Sabri.

Many guests make their appearance during these four seasons, such as Bruno Solo (who plays a depressive patient), Marie-Christine Adam, Pierre Palmade (who plays his own role), Thierry Henry (which plays her own role), Richard Gotainer (Who plays his own role), Jean-Claude Dreyfus, Joey Starr (who plays Lucifer), Lorànt Deutsch, Richard Bohringer (who plays Saint Pierre), Serge Riaboukine, Micheline Presle (who plays her own role), Christine Ockrent (who plays her own role), Patrick Poivre d' Arvor (who plays his own part), Philippe Khorsand, Maureen Dor (who play a ex of Aymé), Isabelle Bouysse (who plays a prostitute), Bernard Blancan (who plays a gastronomical critic), Alain Bouzigues (who plays a friend of Aymé), Jeanne Savary (who plays a nurse), Stéphanie Lagarde (who plays Lea, a girl who fall in love with Aymé), Gerard Chaillou, (who plays a repairer of elevator), Gerard Darmon (who plays a police chief) and Mouss Diouf (who plays a robber).
